Carbon footprint calculation

As awareness of our responsibility regarding climate change grows, more and more people are taking an interest in the impact that certain activities, processes and products have on the climate.

The concept of the carbon footprint was introduced to quantify this impact.

The carbon footprint refers to the quantity of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, expressed in carbon dioxide equivalents, generated by the activities or processes of the company, organisation or individual directly or indirectly generates through its activities or processes during the period under review, or through a product’s life cycle.

What do we offer?

IWS Solutions Ltd. holds accreditation (COFRAC 4-0587) for the verification of GHG emissions. Drawing on our expertise in this field, we also carry out carbon footprint assessments for companies and organisations.

The calculation is based on the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG Protocol) Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard, which is widely used internationally.

The study often reveals that significant reductions in carbon dioxide emissions can be achieved by modifying certain sub-processes or supply sources – even without incurring additional costs.

What regulations?

The GHG Protocol identifies three scopes for calculating a company’s carbon dioxide emissions.

Scope 1: Emissions resulting from the company’s own operations (emissions from its own combustion plants and its own transport fleet).

Scope 2: Carbon dioxide emissions associated with electricity consumption.

Scope 3: Emissions from other service areas that result in indirect carbon dioxide emissions and are considered important by the company (transport, waste, outsourced activities, etc.).

Who is it for?

Reducing a company’s carbon footprint is a priority for an increasing number of responsible business leaders and owners, and it is an excellent way to communicate with the company’s or organisation’s partners and customers.
